Manchester United still a few years away from competing for Premier League title, says Andy Cole

Andy Cole states Manchester United are”still a couple of decades away” from competing to the Premier League title, however, believes they can close the gap over Manchester City and Liverpool by keeping a patient strategy.
United, who last won the league title are in the table after four matches and path league leaders Liverpool .
They ended 32 points behind champions City term, but United striker Cole says the side of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should remain patient.
“I believe we’re still a few decades away,” Cole told Sky Sports.
“We have just got to keep improving, keep bringing in better players and just attempt to improve season by season, since the 2 teams in the very top – Liverpool and Manchester City – they are pulling away from everybody.
“I was in a group at Manchester United at which we were doing precisely the same thing and ultimately, everyone else shut the gap.
“It’s a case of just keep persevering, keep enhancing season by season and closing the gap”
Cole also spoke about the association between his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and past team-mate Roy Keane.
After questioning if the Scot’s activities were in the best interests of the team, a feud was recently reignited by the Republic of Ireland midfielder with Ferguson.
“It is disappointing but I am simply trusting that the two of them are able to address the situation and work out it because I’ve got a great deal of time to the set of them,” Cole added.
“I talked to Roy the other day and I’ve always had a wonderful relationship with Sir Alex, so fingers crossed they will have the ability to sort it out.”
United return after the break when they sponsor Brendan Rodgers’ unbeaten Leicester at Old Trafford.
Cole was talking at BGC Partners’ 15th yearly Charity Day to commemorate the coworkers.
